Methylene Blue Angew Chem: DNA nanorobot carrying methylene blue for light-activated therapy shrank tumors in mice
Summary

Preclinical study (Fan et al.): researchers built a DNA-based nanorobot carrying methylene blue as a light-activated (photodynamic) drug plus platinum particles that make oxygen inside tumors. The oxygen bubbles helped it push deeper into tumor tissue and eased low oxygen, which made the light treatment work better; the authors report 85% tumor regression in mice. An engineered nanodevice with light treatment, not methylene blue taken by mouth; mice only; not tested in people.
